TIRANA, Sep 17 – A central biomass liquid and two wind farms built in the Albanian northern district of Lezha will help Italy to get 1,000 MWs a year through an undersea link. That is the result of an agreement between Italy and Albania that will made operational by the Marseglia Group in collaboration with Terna spa.
The agreement provides for the construction of a power station fuelled by liquid biomass power of 140 megawatts with an investment of around 150 million Euros and two wind farms power of 234 megawatts with an investment of almost 250 million Euros for a total of 400 million Euros.
The connection with the network of the Italian high voltage system will be completed in partnership with Terna SpA through some long submarine cables up to 300 km long in the Adriatic Sea for a further investment estimated in 400 million Euros.
That leads to well one billion Euros the total value of the investment.
The project, already approved by the Albanian energy corporations, is currently undergoing final approval by the central government.
Group Marseglia will train Albanian personnel for the installations and their further management.
Based in Monopoli with annual revenue of 500 million Euros, Marseglia Group is among the first groups in Italy with regard to energy facilities from renewable sources.
