Japanese agency gives Albania 5.5mn euros for medical equipment

TIRANA, Feb 17ؔhe Japanese Agency for International Cooperation (JICA) has granted Albania 718 million Japanese yen (5.5 million euros) for better equipment in emergency medical centres.
“We’re putting a brick in the foundation of public health strategy. The (existing healthcare improvement) project will be extended to 14 emergency medical centers and implemented within 12 months,” Health Minister Petrit Vasili (www.moh.gov.al) said in a statement.
Under the project, 47 new types of equipment will be obtained including up-to-date ambulances to provide emergency medical assistance in Lezhe, Kukes, Dibra, Durres, Elbasan, Fier, Berat, Vlore, Gjirokaster, and Korce.
Also due to receive equipment are the city hospitals of Sarande and Lushnje, along with a pediatric centre and an emergency center in the capital of Tirana.
JICA (www.jica.go.jp) is an independent administrative institution that aims to contribute to the promotion of international cooperation in the Japanese and global economy by supporting socio-economic growth, recovery and economic stability in developing parts of the world.
