ROME, May 28 – Albanian dancer Kledi Kadiu has been a victim of aggression based on xenophobic behavior in Rome. Kadiu was taken to Saint John hospital in Rome to be taken care of.
The Albanian dancer is a well-known person in Italian television for his performances.
He cannot really explain the reasons of aggression from three boys.
“I want to understand why they did it,” says Kadiu still visibly shaken.
Kadiu was talking with parents of some students in his school when three persons came with a camera. One of them went to him and grabbed him physically saying aloud he was an Albanian. Following that they left.
The present students’ parents took pictures with their mobile phone, which may serve police to find the suspects.
Kadiu has 30 days to open a case but he says he will likely not do it, to prevent a further escalation of such racist separate episodes.
The Rome Mayor Gianni Alemanno expressed his full support to the Albanian artist and appealed to the country’s politicians to play their role in avoiding intolerance and violence against immigrants.
