TIRANA, Feb 9 – Kosova lifted its taxes on flying to and from Tirana, a decision that is expected to immediately lower ticket prices, and also expecting the same measure by Albania’s authorities.
Kosova’s Minister of Transport and Telecommunications Fatmir Limaj and the Civil Aviation Authority decided to remove the tax for all trips in airlines not longer than 200 kilometers from Prishtina International Airport.
Managing Director of Prishtina International Airport Agron Mustafa said this is the first step in creating a financial facilitator for all passengers flying a distance of no more than 200 kilometers from the International Airport of Prishtina.
They informed all companies of that decision, which has begun to be implemented in practice.
BellAir is the only flight company operating the Tirana-Prishtina-Tirana line at the moment.
The Kosovar authorities also said they had created an incentive for companies operating the lines of 200 kilometers of distance, expecting to have further reductions in ticket prices for those lines.
Flight companies said they hope Tirana will also follow suit so that the price of the Prishtina-Tirana ticket falls to affordable levels.
