Kosovo is IMF’s newest member state and the two are soon to sign an agreement on the funds.

Kosovo will soon get its first loan from the International Monetary Fund, a package of 100 million euros, according to the Minister of Economy and Finance Ahmet Shala.
Kosovo is IMF’s newest member state and the two are soon to sign an agreement on the funds.
“Preliminary talks have been completed, and we are negotiating for about 100 million euros,” Mr. Shala said.
Some of the money will be used for Kosovo’s budget needs, and the new country will follow the recommendations of the IMF for public administration reform and improving macroeconomic policies.
Late last year, Kosovo officials had said they hoped to get 300 million euros from the IMF but the figure was then lowered to 100 million euros.
Kosovo needs close cooperation with IMF or it will risk losing 213 million euros in direct donations promised by the European Commission and the World Bank at a donor conference two years ago.
