TIRANA, Dec. 4 – After its premiere in Prishtina, “Shembja e kull쳠s롁jfelit” (The Collapse of the Eiffel Tower), a controversial drama written by Kosovo’s Jeton Neziraj and featuring a cast of Kosovo actors will show in Tirana at the National Theatre this weekend. The drama focusing on religious misconceptions will be performed on December 6 and 7 at the National Theatre at 20.00.
“In a contemporary urban background, the drama confesses the strange story of a European citizen who is kidnapped by two Islamist terrorists because he insists on removing the headscarf to Muslim women in Paris. Meanwhile, like in a tale from the past, in a parallel confession, an Ottoman soldier is ordered by the Sultan to distribute headscarves to Balkan women who have converted to Islam. The “Collapse of the Eiffel Tower” is an alternative to obsession by top media toward the headscarf. The drama also opens up the debate about knowing and understanding another person’s drama,” organizers say.
