On Monday, at the Museum of National History, an award giving ceremony was organized for Patricia Nugge, a well known collector of volumes and writings on Scenderbeg. Mrs Nugge was awarded, “The Medal of Gratitude,” by the President of the Republic Alfred Moisiu, “for her contribution towards helping the Albanian cause in general and Kosovo in particular.”
Behind this motivation are years of ceaseless work that testify to the fact that for more than thirty years Patricia Nugge has been a friend of the Albanians and of Albania. “With devotion, passion and love, she has created a rare collection of volumes on our national hero Gjergj Kastriot Skenderbe,” say sources from the Presidency.
Nugge has opened exhibitions in different countries where she has put on display her collection of volumes on Skenderbe, including the University of Cambridge, the Royal College of Ethon, the BBC, in Prishtina, Ulqin, Frashineto, in Italy, in Skopje and in Tirana. She is also a member of the England-Albania Friendship Association. Recently, Mrs Nugge has been trying very hard to lobby for the erection of a statue of Skenderbe in London, opposite the Bust of Lord Byron, in London’s famous Hyde Park. However, as she herself declares, “it is not an easy undertaking.” She says that she would like to exhibit in London, the bust of Skenderbe realized by Albanian Master Sculpture Odhise Paskali, but the bureaucracy is hugeŢ
Representatives of the Presidency of the Republic, the Diplomatic Corps, personalities of Albanian Letters and Culture took part in the ceremony to award Mrs.Nugge.
