Washington, Oct 6 – Following their quarterly meeting last month, the Millennium Challenge Corporation’s (MCC) Board of Directors and its Chief Executive Officer, Ambassador John Danilovich, announced that since its June meeting, the Board approved MCC’s first “Stage II” (or second) threshold program with the government of Albania.
The program will build upon the early successes of Albania’s initial threshold program, set to conclude in November of this year, and will support new activities in the areas of public administration and improving the capacity of the judiciary.
The program will target those policy areas that most impact Albania’s performance on the MCC compact eligibility criteria.
The new program will be $15 million and will continue for the next two years. The existing stage is over next month.
Danilovich said they were satisfied with the work in Albania which had achieved good results in the fight against corruption and reform in the judiciary.
