TIRANA, July 19 – Following two weeks of protests in Bulqiza hundreds of miners came to Tirana to continue protesting at the central government offices.
The miners have reached no compromise with the Austrian company ACR on a 20 percent pay raise and other requests. The ACR has only agreed to a 10 percent rise.
The miners and their trade union leaders protested Monday and Tuesday in front of the Economy Ministry and then at the building which houses Prime Minister Sali Berisha.
They have said they are determined to stay there until their requests are fulfilled.
