TIRANA, Feb. 20 – Cosi fan tutte, an opera buffa in two acts by Mozart premiered this week at the National Theatre of Opera and Ballet in a comeback eight years after its last stage.
Italian conductor Stefano Ligoratti was the special guest in this restage of the comic opera directed by Albania’s Nikolin Gurakuqi and featuring a cast of young Albanian singers.
Mezzo-soprano Vikena Kamenica who has been given a lead role in the opera considers the restaging a challenge.
“This is an absolute premiere for me. It is a restage for the theatre and for almost half of my colleagues, but I feel Ok and I am very pleased to perform as Dorabella,” she says.
Apart from new performers, the stage and costume design are also a novelty in this restaging.
After its premiere on February 19, the opera is also scheduled to stage on February 21 and 23 at 19:00 at the National Theatre of Opera and Ballet.
Composed in 1790, Mozart’s famous opera “Cos졦an tutee” has been delighting audiences for over 200 years. With great music and libretto, it’s easy to see why the opera is still performed.
