National art, culture centre launched

TIRANA, July 11 – Almost two years after the approval of a new law on performing arts, a national centre for arts and culture has been launched tasked with managing and distributing arts funds. Frrok Cupi, a veteran journalist will be the director of the centre whose initial budget is only 30 million lek (Euro 215,000). “Starting from today, a crucial change begins and all projects which will pass through the National Centre for Art and Culture. The Ministry will now deal with its own function that of drafting policies in the field of tourism, art, culture, youth and sports,” said Bumci.
Pledging transparency, director Cupi said the centre would welcome all projects especially those related to the 100th anniversary of independence identifying values, national identity and diversity.
The centre targets supporting art and cultural projects of all kinds.
