TIRANA, Nov. 28- Albanian artists, mostly young and from Berlin, New York, Athens, Tirana, Prishtina, Florence and elsewhere have gathered to participate in an exhibition launched to honor the 95th anniversary of Albanian independence. This exhibition goes beyond epic topics that glorify the nation and is called “in(dependence).” The exhibition is also part of the cultural exchange initiative between Albania and Kosovo and has attracted more than 30 participants such as Albana Shoshi, Agron Mesi, Artan Balaj, Arta Agani, Dhurata Ramosaj, Eneila Veve謡, Flaka Haliti, Fatmir Mustafa Carlo, Flutura La詬 Greta Dhaskali Lami, Gjergj Meta, Heldi Pema, Irzeme Zeqiri, Klevi Pove, Lek롇jeloshi, Lori Polena , Lubjana Dashi, Lume Blloshmi, Nertila Canaj, Nikolin Bujari, Olson Lamaj, Pleurat Xhafa, Suela Qoshja, Toni Milaqi,. The exhibition’s artistic curator, Elsa Martini, explained that artists have reflected on the virtual character of independence and its perception in Albania, Kosovo and elsewhere with a personal and artistic point of view that allows no taboo. There are no national heroes dressed in black and red. More than a national and collective independence, the focus is on individual notions of it. Their work raises the questions about how much independence a small country like Albania achieved when most of its co-nationals are outside the borders, what happens now in Kosovo and how does one individual surpass all other collective identifications to reach that of the nation as a common denominator for all. The artists have chosen to answer through multiple means such as painting, photography, video, installations, posters and other visual forms.
