Holger Linkweiler, the managing director of HOCHTIEF AirPort, Tirana International Airport’s strategic investor, has been selected as the new chairman of TIA’s Administrative Council.
TIRANA, March 1 – Holger Linkweiler, the Managing Director of HOCHTIEF AirPort, Tirana International Airport’s strategic investor, has been selected as the new chairman of TIA’s Administrative Council, the company said this week.
The council is set to provide operational and management expertise for the company that operates Albania’s lone international airport.
Mr. Linkweiler is the successor of Reinhard Kalenda.
“I’m really thrilled with the opportunity presented at TIA. The company is well positioned in both the Albanian and international markets. Air transport holds a significant share of the transportation market in this country and has a continuously growing demand,” Mr. Linkweiler said in a statement. “I look foreword to collaborating with the Board Members, the Albanian government as well as with the TIA team, in order to lead this company into further successes in the future.”
Besides being the new Chairman of TIA’s Administrative Council, Mr. Linkweiler is also member of the Board of Directors of Budapest Airport Zrt. and member of the board of Sydney Airport Corporation Ltd.

Mr. Linkweiler studied Economics at Bochum University, Germany. From 1993 to 1995, he was engaged in investment banking in Frankfurt, with focus on privatizations, mergers and acquisitions and structured financing. In 1995, he joined HOCHTIEF Projektentwicklung, HOCHTIEF Group’s project development arm, where he worked in real estate and infrastructure development. When HOCHTIEF AirPort was founded in 1997, he assumed responsibility for the Business Planning and Financing department. He also managed the acquisitions of the airports in Sydney and Budapest and the founding of HOCHTIEF AirPort Capital where he became Managing Director after its foundation in 2005.
