New contingent leaves for Afghanistan

TIRANA, Jan. 25 – Albanian army sent to Afghanistan Eagle 2 contingent that will serve there for six months.
Albania has 305 troops in Afghanistan in separate places _ two companies in Heart, one in Kabul and the other in Kandahar.
Defense Minister Arben Imami called them the best ambassadors of freedom, peace and stability that Albania offers.
A ceremony was held at the Zall Herr military base not far from capital Tirana, where US Ambassador to Tirana Alexander Arvizu was also present.
The 45-troop contingent, that will replace Eagle 1, will serve alongside American troops in Kandahar, Afghanistan. It has passed a special training with US trios and has been certified there.
Albania became a NATO member in 2009.
