TIRANA, Oct 6ؔhe Slovenian branch of the Swiss pharmaceutical company Novartis, owner of Lek, allegedly bribed oncologists in Serbia, officials at the Ministry of Health in Albania and friends and families of Slovenian doctors to prescribe the drug Exiade, reports POP TV.
Slovenian police received an anonymous denunciation, which was then mediated to Slovenian and international prosecution bodies.
A wider international investigation was suggested due to suspicion of same acts of corruption in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Switzerland, and Italy. Novartis has not commented on the denunciation so far, while the European body for corruption prevention expanded the investigation outside of Switzerland.
