TIRANA, May 27 – One person died and eleven others were severely injured after a fire ripped through a bus around noon on Friday in the center of Krujà«, 35 km north of the capital.
The bus was carrying thirty members of a Christian Orthodox church from Vlora, in southwestern Albania.
The bus burst into flames after a suspected engine problem as panic onboard ensued.
The vehicle is said to have had a single door in front of the bus, which made it difficult to get out as the bus became engulfed by flames.
The wounded, who suffered severe burns in the bus blaze, were immediately rushed to the hospital in Tirana for specialized treatment.
Meanwhile, an investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the fire.
The group was headed to Montenegro, while they had decided to visit the historic town of Krujà« on their way.
