TIRANA, May 9 – Carmina Burana, a musical by Germany’s Carl Orff, will return to the National Theatre of Opera and Ballet in Tirana four years after making its premiere. Some 100 artists have been selected for the scenic cantata which this time comes under the choreography of Arian Sukniqi.
Erlind Zeraliu, Erjona Gjyzeli are already rehearsing to perform in the lead roles along with ballet dancers Isida Mollaymeri, Erald Zela etc. The musical is expected to be staged in Tirana in late May.
Composed by Carl Orff in 1935, musical is a scenic cantata based on 24 of the poems found in the medieval collection Carmina Burana. It was first staged in Frankfurt by the Frankfurt Opera in 1937.
