TIRANA, Oct. 5 – Dashamir Shehi, one of the allies of the main opposition Democratic Party, has criticized its former leader, Sali Berisha, for missing the vote in parliament on the investigation of the CEZ-DIA affair.
Shehi also criticized the Democrats in general saying they played good theater as almost half of their lawmakers voted against the draft law, at a time when it was the DP that initiated the request for an international investigation.
Last week the parliament held a long debate with the opposition asking for an international probe, headed by Berisha.
But Berisha missed the vote due to “a misunderstanding” and it was turned down with only a few votes more form the left-wing majority.
The Socialists on their side said that an international investigation should first be held for some other crimes allegedly committed from the Democrats when they were in power for eight years until 2013.
Shehi said he was disillusioned as being part of the group of the opposition lawmakers asking for the international probe procedure.
“I did not like the vote there as it was a little bit of a theater, and I believe all has understood that. … A party directly interested in that probe, like the DP, gave half of the votes against it and half for it. The talk is over here as there is no need for an analysis,” he said.
