TIRANA, Dec. 21 – The Turkish International Cooperation & Development Agency (TIKA) has delivered a special scanning device and supplies to Directorate of State Archives of Albania, which protects and preserves mostly archival documents of the Ottoman period, under the project of “Transfer of Turkish Manuscripts to Digital Environment.” The project has great importance for the preservation of Turkish culture in the Balkans, as well as historical and cultural cooperation between the two countries and for the realization of the common history, Turkish media reported. TIKA Program Coordinator of Albania Dr. Ali Ozgun Ozturk, Director General of State Archives of Albania Nevila Nika and archive employees attended the opening of the service. Speaking at a ceremony in Albania, TIKA Program Coordinator Ozturk highlighted the importance of the project for the State Archives of Albania and said, “it is a great pleasure for TIKA implementing this major project that will increase the historical and cultural cooperation between two countries.”
Nika thanked Turkey for the support provided through TIKA, saying that without reading the Ottoman archive documents and the Turkish history in the Balkans, Albanian history cannot be written.
