Production prices rise 0.9% on the year

TIRANA, June 19–Albania’s producer price index (PPI) rose by an annual 0.9% in the first quarter of 2009 but fell 2.1% as compared to the last quarter of 2008, figures of the country’s statistics office, INSTAT, showed.
In the fourth quarter of 2008 Albania’s PPI was 4.3% higher on the year and 0.6% lower on the quarter.
The index measured 108.8 points in the first quarter, compared to a 100-points baseline set in 2005, and to 111.1 points in the fourth quarter.
