Restoration of Gjirokastra sites to start in 2007

GJIROKASTRA, Oct. 22 – rehabilitation of many parts of the museum sites in the town will start next year after a funding from the central government. The government gave $1.2 million, the first time the town gets that much money for that work. That investment will be mainly used for the historical part at the Qafa e pazarit. A project has planned the work to rehabilitate many old houses and other sites until 2011. Local authorities expect foreign donors to put their money and help the town, declared one of United Nations protected areas.
