TIRANA, Jan. 15 – Albania’s internationally renowned tenor Saimir Pirgu will perform for Rosenblatt Recitals, London’s only concert series of world-class opera and song which take place at Wigmore Hall.
Pirgu is one of the most exciting singers to come out of Albania in recent years. Opera Today has described the 33 year-old as “one of the world’s most important interpreters of lyric tenor roles”. He has performed at some of the top operatic venues in the world, including the Royal Opera House, La Scala in Milan and the New York s Metropolitan Opera.
In his concert scheduled for February 10, Pirgu will be accompanied by Simon Lepper in piano, featuring music by some of the giants from the opera world, including Mozart, Verdi, Gluck and Bononcini.
With debuts and regular guest engagements in new productions with top conductors on the most important international operatic platforms in Europe and Japan already at the age of 30, tenor Saimir Pirgu is emerging as one of the most sought-after lyric tenors on the current opera scene.
A native of Elbasan, Albania, Saimir Pirgu was born in September 1981 and began his musical studies early on.
