TIRANA, July 5 – Albania and Serbia have signed a bilateral agreement in Tirana for visa-free travel, according to the Albanian Foreign Ministry.
The agreement was signed by the Albanian Deputy Foreign Minister Selim Belortaja and the Serbian Ambassador to Tirana Miroljub Zaric.
“The agreement on free movement is based on the principles of full reciprocity between the two states, good will and mutual cooperation, aimed at facilitating the free movement of citizens from one country to another,” said a statement.
The agreement provides for exemption from entry visa for both parties for a visit or stay not exceeding 90 days within 180 days. Those who would like to stay for a longer period for study, employment, family reunification, and others shall be subject to the requirements of domestic law of each country.
This means that citizens of Albania and Serbia no longer need visas when entering the territory of either country.
Albania has also lifted visas for many other countries like Russia, Ukraine, China and Taiwan, in an effort to increase the number of foreign tourists during the summer season.
