TIRANA, July 30 – The Shengjin commune in northern Albanian awarded former Croatian President Stipe Mesic, Kosovo’s Fatmir Sejdiu and Albania’s Alfred Moisiu with the Honored Citizen medal “for their joint contribution for peace and friendship in the Balkan region.”
That is a good thing, initiative undertaken from the local authorities of the small commune.
Shengjin commune head Salvador Kacaj said that the three former presidents were architects of the changes in the region, once the place of wars among the people there.
Mesic also spoke about Kosovo, saying that Albanians there at last were enjoying their rights like all the other people in the region. He also said that now the Balkan people should work together toward their next goal _ becoming members of the European Union.
Mesic’s Croatia has already undertaken that step, while Albania is a NATO member.
Sejdiu said that the Nation’s Road in Albania and the Shengjin port offer to Kosovo greater possibilities to get linked with the world.
Moisiu said that with the EU integration there will be greater opportunities for the Balkans.
