TIRANA, Oct. 13 – The Strasbourg Court has ordered the Albanian government to hold on the extradition of Almir Rrapo to the United States where he is wanted for collaboration in murder and other crimes.
The Tirana Court ordered the extradition, which has been appealed.
But Strasbourg told Tirana they should suspend its extradition process until it is considered by all the court levels. The news came from Rrapo’s lawyer Ardian Visha, as reported in the local media.
Rrapo, a former adviser to Deputy Prime Minister and then Foreign Minister Ilir Meta, was arrested in July.
Rrapo is allegedly part of the Krasniqi brothers group in the United States who have been accused of many crimes.
