TIRANA, Feb. 2 – Albania has pledged to further enhance bilateral relations and cooperation with Cyprus and Egypt, as Foreign Minister Ditmir Bushati made visit to the two countries this week.
Bushati met in Cyprus with his host counterpart Ioannis Kasoulides. In Cyprus, Bushati was accompanied from Damian Gjiknuri, Energy and Industry minister.
Both ministers had a series of meetings there including President Nikos Anastasiades, Parliament Speaker Yanakis Omiru, and their counterparts Janis Kasulides and Jorgos Lakotripis, and other top officials of the chambers of commerce.
Intensifying bilateral ties and finding new routes to increase cooperation were among the issues they discussed.
Bushati also urged Cyprus “for a more flexible stand on Kosovo” which it has not recognized.
In March the Forum “Oil and Gas 2015” will be held in Tirana with the participation of the Cypriot businessmen.
In Egypt, Bushati met with Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry to discuss ways of developing relations in all fields as well as the latest developments at the regional level.
Bushati expressed his country’s condemnation of the recurrent attacks in North Sinai, stressing Albania’s support for Egypt in the anti-terror war.
Shoukry thanked Albania for its support and expressed Cairo’s keenness to bolster ties with Albania in all fields, especially at the commercial and economic levels.
Bushati also met with the Arab League Secretary General Nabil El Arabi highly evaluating its role in the international arena.
Bushati said that the Arab League may play a leading role in more recognition for Kosovo.
