TIRANA, May 10 – The Economy Ministry has said it will set up a task force to discipline the mining activity in the northern Bulqiza chromium mine. Speaking to reporters, Economy and Energy Minister Dritan Prifti said the ministry had identified dangerous and illegal activities in the Bulqiza mine, such as unlicensed companies and minors working there.
“The task force, which will be set up by the four line ministries, the Ministries of Economy, Interior, Labour and Finance, will also include representatives of tax directorate, the labour inspectorate, police etc. The task force will be led by the prefect of Dibra Region,” said Minister Prifti.
Poor working conditions in Bulqiza mine have been the cause of accidents for many miners often proving fatal.
