The Elementary School to screen at Academy of Film & Multimedia Marubi

In cooperation with Friends of the Czech Republic Society, the Academy of Film & Multimedia Marubi will have a special screening on March 28, 2016 at 18:00.

On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of his father, actor, writer and Czech cultural icon ZdenÄ›k SvÄ›rà¡k, director Jan SvÄ›rà¡k and Zdenek SvÄ›rà¡k’s fans will organize a celebration across the world by screening Obecnà¡ Skola (The Elementary School), which was nominated for an Academy Award in the category of Best Foreign Language Film. The film was the first co-creation of father-and-son who won an Oscar  in 1997 with their next project, Kolya.

Directed by Jan Sverà¡k, Obecnà¡ skola is set right after the World War II ended. It tells the story of Eda and his friends who live in a small village outside of Prague. As a consequence of being undisciplined, the teacher of Eda and his friends quits and is replaced by militant Igor Hnidzo (played by Jan Tríska). As a half dictator and half hero, Hnidzo soon gets his students’ attention.

The 1991 dramedy besides Jan TŠ™íska stars  ZdenÄ›k SvÄ›rà¡k, LibuŠ¡e Š afrà¡nkovà¡, Rudolf HruŠ¡ínsk, etc.

The film is 100 min long film will have Albanian subtitles.
