The Italian cinema in Shkodra

Recently the city of Shkodra has been the center of the cultural activities in Albania. The theatre “Migjeni”, the only theater of the city, has welcomed for weeks the premiers of the well known directors and most famous shows of the Albanian theatres companies. Masterpieces of the international operas, such as “The barber of Sevilja” will be shown at the beginning of this month in Cinema Millenium in Shkoder.
Shkodra, known for its traditional values in culture is going through a lot of difficulties related to the cultural investments, including the major lack in necessary ambiances for the activities. However it seems that it has become a normal routine for the artists of Shkodra.
A new project related to the cinematography is the most recent activity in the city. The Italian movie week started this month in collaboration with the Italian Consulate, in Shkodra. There are 4 new movies of the very well known Italian movie directors that give a picture of the Italy of today. The movies will be shown every Wednesday at the Italian Department, the Conference hall, in Don Bosco Street, at 18.00. Entrance is free.
The festival was opened with “Che ne sara di noi” of the director Giovanni Veronesi with the participation of the well known actors as, Silvio Muccino, Violante Placido and Elio Germano Giuseppe. Other movies that will be shown include: “Pane e tulipani” of the director Silvio Soldini, with the participation of the actors Bruno Ganz and Licia Maglietta; “Manuale d’Amore” of director Giuseppe Veronesi, and finalizing with “La tigre e la neve” of the famous director Roberto Benigni with the participation of the actress Nicholeta Braschi.
