TIRANA, Oct. 3 – A painting and photo exhibition by Austria-based Albanian artist Fate Velaj opens this weekend at the local art gallery in the southwest city of Fier. The exhibition includes a cycle of paintings named “The Red in the Bedroom, and “The Heaven Look down” section of photographs.
“My first thoughts on the collection “The red in the bedroom” came after I read Andre Breton’s “Amour Fou” (Crazy Love). While completing these works, never have I wanted to get into the details. In fact, it has never interested me. I have always wanted to portray the atmosphereơnd in this case “The red in the bedroom” There you can find the aroma of everythingƯf the beauty, nostalgia, fear and jealousyơnd, sex, desire, passion and Šabove all, love.
A painter, photographer and essayist, internationally well-known as creator of cultural policies and exhibitions curator, Velaj, 49, was born in Fier and since 1991 lives and works in Vienna and Vlora. He holds dual Albanian and Austrian citizenship.
His exhibition in Fier will open on Saturday, Oct. 6.
