TIRANA, Dec. 2 – More than thirty renowned artists from all over Albania have joined in the annual year-end collective exhibition at the Edward Lear gallery in the UNESCO town of Berat, southwestern Albania.
“This is the 18th edition of the Edward Lear exhibition which this year comes with a series of works from artists from Fier, Elbasan, Tirana and Berat. Some 33 artists are displaying 49 artworks such as oil on canvas, sculptures, drawings, graphs and photos which proves the miscellaneousness of the techniques in this exhibition which has now established itself,” says Nezir Ago, the director of the gallery about the exhibition schedule to remain open until December 20.
Open since 1994, the gallery named after British author Edward Lear, is one of the eldest and most important galleries in Albania. Its collection reveals the contemporary and traditional works of arts by Albanian and foreign artists.
Berat, also known as the city of 1001 windows, is acclaimed for its cultural heritage, especially for the famous icons created by renowned 16 century painter Onufri.
