TIRANA, April 27 – Albania plans to build three hydropower plants on the river of Vjose in the south of the country, according to head of the state-run power utility KESH Gjergji Bojaxhi.
He did not make known the capacity of these projects only saying they could be up to 40 percent of the total output of Albania’s three main hydropower plants on the Drini River, which produces the bulk of the country’s electricity.
More than 90 percent of Albania’s domestically-produced electricity is generated by hydro-power plants, which were badly affected by droughts in the last three years.
