TIRANA, Nov. 11 – Next week will bring in Tirana three prominent Spanish writers in a three-day event held as part of the Spanish Cultural Autumn in Albania 2010: “Nostrum, the Mediterranean through the five senses.”
The Mediterranean literary meetings called “A sea of letters” will bring together writers Manuel Vicent, Antonio Soler and Eduardo Mendicutti on November 15, 16 and 17 in three evening conferences at the National Museum of History, said the Spanish embassy in Tirana in a statement.
Three movies based on their books will also be screened as part of the event.
The Spanish writers will speak about the Mediterranean and its influence on inspiring them to write. The literary meetings held in cooperation with the Spain’s Menendez Pelayo International University (UIMP) will acquaint the Albanian public with the works of three Spain most representative modern authors who along with Albanian writers will “sail through the Mediterranean waters with the best of Spanish literature and cinema.”
Last week, an exhibition featuring some 44 artworks by Antoni Clavi, one of Spain’s most influential 20th century artists, opened at the Arts Gallery in Tirana. Held in the frame of the Spanish cultural open, the exhibition will be open to the public until December 15.
Meanwhile, a concert by the Mediterr⯥a’ band scheduled to be held at the Arts Academy in Tirana on Friday, November 12 has been postponed.
“Nostrum: The Mediterranean Through the Five Senses,” is dedicated to the Mediterranean Sea, shared by both Spain and Albania. The embassy considers the event an invitation to enjoy the Mediterranean with the five senses through music, food, exhibitions and the cinema, as well as an opportunity to reflect on the place it takes in the respective cultures.
