TIRANA, Nov. 24 – Piraeus Bank, Greece’s second largest bank and the mother company for Albania’s Tirana Bank, reported 219 million euro profit for the first nine months of 2009.
The banking group said in a press release that it maintains a strong balance sheet and its liquidity is higher than in the whole history of the bank.
“Careful management of Piraeus Bank Group will continue to include key policies and objectives for development in the region,” said Chairman Michalis Sallas.
Piraeus Bank is the second of Greece’s four large banks to report its six-month results this week following Alpha Bank SA, which announced slightly better-than-expected earnings two weeks ago.
Tirana Bank, which has branches across Albania, is part of the Piraeus Bank Group, founded in 1916.
