TIRANA, Sept. 23 – European Integration Minister Klajda Gjosha made a two-day visit to Berlin, where she took part in a forum dealing with the challenges and opportunities of Albania’s EU integration process.
Gjosha also held a series of meetings with German officials to discuss on further strengthening bilateral ties and Albania’s efforts toward EU integration.
Before leaving for Germany, the minister also held a meeting with the working groups of the administration to discuss on the steps that the Albanian authorities have made toward integration into the union.
The groups talked about the key five priorities, expressing the maximal inter-institutional commitment of the authorities in this process.
It was concluded that most of the tasks set from Brussels have already been fulfilled.
What has remained, and which has often been mentioned by Prime Minister Edi Rama, is the completion of the judicial reform.
The premier has said that after the reform is approved, Albania will officially ask Brussels to launch formal membership negotiations with Tirana.
Albania received official candidate status last year and it was told to work on priority areas before it could open negotiations.
Several officials and experts have said it is unlikely Tirana will get a positive recommendation in the regular annual progress report that comes out in Brussels later this year.
