TIRANA, May 19 – In these uncertain economic times, when there are 21 large companies coming together in one place to fill 130 jobs, it’s welcomed news for most. And the American Chamber of Commerce Job Fair has been doing this for ten years now.
It offered this week, as it has done in previous years, a rare opportunity for Albanian job seekers and potential employees to interact in North American style.
Labor Minister Spiro Ksera and AmCham President Robert Wood made the opening remarks at the fair which aims to bring employers and employees together, helping both parties meet their needs.
“In the past, the job fair has reflected the great opportunities that are out there not only for young professionals but for career employees as well. It helps them find better jobs at prestigious local and international companies,” AmCham said. “Last year, when the effects of global economic crisis were the focus of the world, the AmCham Job Fair reflected a different trend. About 21 companies offered 130 jobs. But what makes it even more interesting is the fact that this year, despite the reduced pace of economic growth, there are still 19 companies offering 130 jobs, maintaining a stable job market demand.”
The interest of employers and potential employees to meet for two days during the fair also shows what occupations are in demand in the job market, according to the fair organizers.
This latest Job Fair edition will feature 21 companies in the field of telecommunications, banking, construction, manufacturing and auditing. They have placed 130 vacant positions in the market, looking for lawyers, financial experts, engineers and sales agents. Big names like Vodafone, AMC, Eagle Mobile, AGNA Group, AbCom, Pro Credit Bank, Union Bank and others are listed on the fair’s roster.
The American Chamber of Commerce in Albania is a private business organization committed to helping improve the business climate in Albania, as well as improving the image of Albanian businesses in the U.S. and international markets.
“Some of Albania’s most important businesses were looking to hire skilled professionals.
Young professionals and those higher up the career ladder have the opportunity once a year to meet with the most prestigious companies in the country and prepare for a new phase in their career,” the fair’s organizers said in a press release.
The AmCham Job Fair has brought a new way of looking at things in Albania, reflecting the best practices in human resources and employment.
“In its beginnings, the fair offered more jobs for recent graduates, but interest shown by companies later led to more high-end positions being offered. Large companies want to use the fair to hire economists, financial experts, architects, lawyers or engineers,” according to AmCham. “This makes the fair even more important as a place for a dignified presentation of candidates with a rich resume, and a place where were competition is high.”
