VANCOUVER, Jan 13 – Tirex Resources Ltd. announced assays from the first drill hole in the Letitna Zone at the Mirdita VMS Project in Albania.
The very wide 61.5m (202 ft) mineralized intersection and the presence of at least two stacked zones of VMS mineralization encountered in this initial hole may be indicative that Letitna is an area of the District with a strong and long lived mineralizing system with potential for producing deposits of significant size.
George Gorzynski, P.Eng. and Director, states, “Letitna is the third zone of precious metals-rich VMS mineralization Tirex has drilled on the property in the past year. This is another step toward developing Mirdita into a District with multiple high grade deposits. All three zones drilled to date are copper- and zinc-rich and in addition, all three contain high gold values. Historically, gold values at Mirdita were a State secret and it is only now that the significant gold potential of the District is being realized. In 2009 our aggressive drilling program will continue to define these three zones, to test some of the other known VMS deposits on the property and to test new targets identified in our mapping and geophysical survey work.”
Tirex is a company created to explore and develop the large 344 square kilometer Mirdita Property in Albania. The Mirdita exploration project is managed by an experienced team of Canadian geologists and other professionals and several senior Albanian geologists, geophysicists and surveyors.
