Topalli takes part at the parliaments’ meeting in New York

TIRANA, Nov 18 – Albanian Parliament Speaker Jozefina Topalli took part at the meeting of the Inter-parliamentary Union held at the UN headquarters in New York.
That was the second meeting of the Preparatory Committee for the Third World Conference of Speaker of parliaments, expected to be held in 2010.
Topalli is the first Albanian Speaker of Parliament to become part of this committee of about 20 Speakers of Parliament, chosen from 186 members of the IPU.
The dynamics of the role of parliaments in the global challenges, the priorities of the United Nations, the global financial crisis, the strengthening of cooperation among parliaments and the United Nations, the future inter-parliamentary political and economic strategies, and climate change were the central themes of the Conference discussions.
Topalli also held bilateral meetings with Speakers of Parliaments, as well as with UN high personalities.
