TIRANA, Oct. 12 – U.S. Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel has sent a letter to his Albanian counterpart Mimi Kodheli to thank Albania on its participation at the global coalition created to fight the ISIS group.
Albania donated ammunition and light weaponry to support the Kurdish fighters in the zone, suffering most from the ISIS proliferation there.
Hagel said that Albania’s donation to support the Iraqi government and the Kurd forces in Peshmerga region has “contributed in softening the existing crisis.”
He said that Albania’s fast decision put it on top of the international supporters in the fight against ISIS. It seems that Albania’s contribution has been “at the center of supplying the Kurd forces in Peshmerga at such a critical time.”
The letter also showed that Albania has offered further contribution to support the NATO decision taken at the Wales summit if it is needed.
Hagel said that “the continuity of the support to Peshmerga will be decisive in the continuous success of the coalition.”
