MALIQ, May 18 – Police reported that one kilogram of explosive devices was found at the house of the mayor of the southeastern town of Maliq. It did not explode but was found by two workers who were arranging the wood pieces to be used for heating. Gezim Topciu of the opposition Socialist party won the post of mayor at the May 8 local elections. The electoral campaign was marred by violence, though no dead. Police reported some 60 incidents of violence during the month-long campaign.
