VAT income up 0.5 billion Lek in 2009

TIRANA, September 9؉ncome from Value Added Tax (VAT) has recorded a slight increase during the first 7 months of 2009, this another indicator that Albanian economy is faring quite well in the face of the global economic crisis.
According to data from the General Directory of Customs (GDC), VAT income in 2009 has totaled to 41.3 billion Lek during January-July 2009, up 500 million Lek from the same period a year ago.
The VAT data shows that business activity in the country is proceeding normally despite the ongoing international crisis and its possible effects.
Overall revenues collected by the custom administration remains positive. During the first 7 months of 2009, Albanian customs have recorded 58.2 billion Lek in various tax revenues, up 2 billion Lek from the same period in 2008.
GDC plans to collect a total of 117 billion Lek in revenues this year.
