TIRANA, April 24 – Legendary composer Giuseppe Verdi has been commemorated with a concert bringing together high school art students in Tirana and soloists of the Opera House celebrating Verdi’s bicentennial and Italy’s Liberation Day. The concert held on Thursday, April 24 at the University of Arts in Tirana brought together the symphonic orchestra and chorus of the Jordan Misja art high schools and soloists Eva Golemi and Armando Likaj of the National Theatre of opera and Ballet performing some of Verdi’s most famous operas such as La Traviata, Aida, Attila. Rogoletto, Nabucco.
The concert was made possible through the Italian embassy’s educational cooperation office and the Jordan Misja art school.
Last March, the National Theatre of Opera and Ballet staged Verdi’s La Traviata in a ballet as an Albanian-Italian cooperation on the 200th birth anniversary of Giuseppe Verdi, Italy’s most famous composer. In Albania, La Traviata has seen six productions with the absolute premiere in 1956. This is a commemorative production which is dedicated to the performers of the Violetta in the 60-year history of the National Theatre of Opera and Ballet, says director Zhani Ciko.
The National Theatre of Opera and Ballet will offer a choreographic reinterpretation of Verdi’s most famous operas to honor twelve performers of Violetta during its sixty-year history as an Opera House.
