Vlora’s sounds will set summer nights ablaze

Vlora Waves 2009, 11-16 August 2009

The south-western coastal city of Vlora – one of the tourist destinations of the Albanian summer – will become, during the month of August 2009, one of the musical theater spots of the whole country. Vlora is a renowned Mediterranean sea-port city. From the 1st of August to the 5th of August, Vlora will shelter the Mediterranean Folkloric Festival (Festivali Folklorik Mesdhetar “Vlora 2009”). Fourteen folk groups coming from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Greece, Italy, Kosovo, the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM), Montenegro and Turkey will enliven the city’s cultural nights. The summer scenes will be fixed on three squares of the city of Vlora, as well as on the Archaeological Parks of Oricum (Vlor멠and Apolonia (Fier). The Albanian folk group that will take part in the Mediterranean Folkloric Festival of Vlora is called Lab쳩a.
In a short time, the sea-port city will swap traditional folk music ambiance with contemporary pop rock sounds. From the 11th of August to the 16th of August, the city will shelter the Vlora Waves 2009, a contemporary music event. Vlora Waves 2009 will be held at the stadium of the city, (stadiumi “Flamurtari”), with the participation of Alexia, Marco Masini, David Knopfler, La fame di Camilla and Eurosmith.
The city of Vlora will also participate in the 4th edition of the Marathon of the Folk Song (Maratona e K쯧쳠Popullore), during which “a marathon of concerts” will be organized in the whole country during the hot summer days. The Marathon is reported to have already planed scales at Vlor묠Velipoj묠Sarand묠Pogradec, Kor諬 Himar롡nd Fier.
