TIRANA, Dec. 1 – Albanians celebrated the White Night festivities on Sunday, organized by Tirana City Hall. The occasion was marked with political debate, concerts, ceremonies and a street fight that injured eight.
The Democratic Party government of Prime Minister Sali Berisha accused the Tirana City Hall run from opposition Socialist Party leader Edi Rama of failing to respect the national day without setting the proper protocol items like flags and other objects in place.
Berisha threatened Rama that he could have fired him from the post for that offense to the national symbols, but he didn’t do so because that would be considered a political gesture.
Rama reminded Berisha to focus more on coping with the flooding in northern Shkodra instead of how to run Tirana.
