Yields fall as BoA sells 91 million euro in treasury bills

TIRANA, Nov 18 – Albania’s central bank, the Bank of Albania, said it sold at an auction on Tuesday 12.5 billion leks (91 million euro) in 6-month and 12-month treasury bills, as yields fell.
BoA, which auctions government securities on behalf of the Finance Ministry, offered and sold 5.3 billion leks in six-month T-bills, as dealers placed bids for the amount on offer. The T-bills produced a weighted average yield of 7.62 percent, down from the 7.69 percent achieved in the previous auction held on October 13.
The bank sold the entire offer of 7.2 billion leks worth of 12-month T-bills, as dealers placed bids worth 8.6 billion leks. Yields edged down 9.27 percent from to 9.31 percent in the previous auction held on November 3.
The Bank of Albania has auctioned treasury bills worth 337.922 billion leks since the beginning of this year. It auctioned T-bills worth 373 billion leks in par value last year, compared to 386.83 billion leks in 2007.
