TIRANA, March 6 – A young talented Albanian painter and stage designer has created a hand-made McLaren Mercedes Formula One car.
Marjus Spahija, 28, finished creating the car last Saturday when he put it on display at the National Historical Museum in Tirana. It took him three years to create the car in the original dimensions. The Formula One fan has used all kinds of common material to create the 4.5-meter long and 1.5-meter wide car, spending 7,000 Euros to buy gypsum, aluminum and wood.
The 27-year-old said he created the F1 car in his home garden in modest conditions. “Creating such a work with unsophisticated materials was a difficult challenge but I think I have managed to do it,” he told local media. The F1 car appearance has everything that a McLaren racing on an official circuit does apart from the engine.
When asked how he came up with this idea, Marjus said, “I was jobless at the time when this idea came in my mind and did not know what to do, so one morning I woke up and thought to make a Formula one car and I choose a McLaren Mercedes because that’s my favorite car.”
Apart from his F1 car, Spahija also displayed some of his paintings on the premises of the National Historical Museum. He says he wants to risk again creating something special and why not win a Guinness World Record for Albania like compatriot Saimir Strati who has set four Guinness World Records for his mosaics.
