TIRANA, Sep 2 – The Delegation of the European Commission to Albania has awarded 18 grants to Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) that have proposed projects in the areas of the media (0.4 million euro), of anticorruption activities (0.6 million euro) and of environmental protection (0.6 million euro).
The media projects seek to raise the professional capacities and the profile of Albanian media in monitoring and accompanying Albania’s progress towards European integration.
In the area of anticorruption, projects aim at raising public awareness about the negative consequences of corrupt practices and at involving civil society in bringing about greater transparency in the management of public funds.
Projects in the environmental area set out to introduce aspects of environmental protection in a variety of fields from small and medium-sized enterprises to the management of used batteries.
Albanian Institute for International Studies was one of the organizations that got funding from the EC on the Empowering the Albanian Media to Monitor the Stabilisation and Association Process selected after a thorough evaluation process
