10 arrested for falsifying documents

TIRANA, Oct. 25 – Ten persons were arrested Monday and charged of falsification of official documents.
The arrest followed an eight-month investigation from the economic anti-crime office of the Tirana Police.
the suspects gained from 100,000 to 700,000 leks for every false document.
The police codenamed “Card” operation put under arrest persons whose age varies from 40 to 50 years old, adding investigation continued and more people could have been involved in the illegal activity.
“They were arrested thanks to 8 months of investigation, time during which we applied special investigation methods. We also have gathered the necessary information about this tendentious criminal activity know as ‘Falsification of documents’. During the investigation process we gathered enough evidence to prove that the above mentioned citizens, in cooperation with each other, created false documents. Then, they sold them for sums that varied from 100 Euro to 700,000 leks. We have also come to the conclusion that these citizens helped other people to illegally cross the border,” said Tirana police head Tonin Vocaj.
the false documents were mainly used for illegal emigration.
police found five falsification bases, where they seized six scanners for documents, six central units, an equipment for creating stamps, eight Schengen visas, 250 national and international driver’s licenses, 2000 stay permissions uncompleted, five USB devices with programs for creating false documents and two false passports.
