TIRANA, Sept. 26 – A special mosaic exhibition featuring portraits and landscapes has opened at the National Museum of History to commemorate Albania’s centenary of independence. “100 years of independence” brings a series of mosaics created by painter Myftar Cubi in natural stones.
“All stones used in my works were collected one by one along the Albanian seaside and river banks or other countries where I was on holiday,” says the painter.
Nude mosaics, portraits, landscapes and heroes of Albania’s 100 years of independence are some the works displayed in the exhibition.
Born in Shkodra, Cubi, 58, graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Tirana and has participated in dozens of exhibitions in Albania and abroad.
The exhibition will remain open at the National Museum of History starting from Sept. 24.
