TIRANA, Oct. 15- The 18th edition of the Italian Language around the World Week will take place on Oct. 15 through 21 to celebrate the Italian language and the long celebrated friendship between the two neighbourly countries, Albania and Italy.

This tradition started in 2001 in an agreement between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Crusca Academy. It is an annual event that takes place on the third week of October with a theme around which a rich cultural program is organized to spread the Italian language. The theme for the 2018 edition is ‘’The Italian language and the web, networks for the Italian language.’’ The theme aims to explore the links and impacts that exist between the Italian language, the internet world, new information technologies and social communications, social media platforms included.

Part of the event will be the exhibition ‘’Borders Vision’’ at the Italian Embassy Residence on Oct. 17, 7:30 p.m., until Dec. 31. The exhibition will display paintings from Albanian artists that studied in Italy in the first half of 20th century. There will be a collection of known paintings exhibited in prestigious museums, but also unseen paintings from artists Simon Rrota, Zef Kolombi, Kristina Koljaka, Vangjush Mio, Abdulla Cangonji, and other brilliant brushes.

The exhibition is organized from the Italian Institute of Culture and curated by Artan Shabani. Paintings on graphics, oil, pastel, etc., which are dug out from private collections and families of the artists, will be displayed for the public in this celebratory tradition.

Since Albania and Italy are long known for their close cultural relationship, the Italian Language Week lasts until the end of October and brings other events organized by the Italian Institute of Culture, the Italian Embassy in Albania, the Office of Schools and the Vlore Consulate.
